ABSTRACT

Pretest, posttest quasi-experimental method was used in the study "Analysis of Students’ Achievement in Islamic Studies using Different Teaching Methods in Selected Public Secondary Schools in Kano Metropolis, Kano State, Nigeria."One control group and two experimental groups were used to evaluate the pupils.Certain themes in Islamic studies were taught to the students in the experimental groups using both guided inquiry and guided lecture methods. Untreated groups were the control groups. All of the SS III pupils enrolled at particular Kano metropolis schools made up the study's population. The researcher took samples of SS III Islamic studies students from the sampled schools using purposive sampling procedures.Inferential statistics were used to evaluate the hypotheses once the data were analysed. The independent t-test was used to examine the first and second hypotheses. Man-Whitney was utilised to test hypothesis four, whereas analysis of covariance was employed to test hypothesis three. The results showed, among other things, that students who were educated through lecture and guided inquiry fared better in Islamic studies.Gender plays a major role in how well students achieve in Islamic studies. It is advised that Islamic studies instructors switch from using traditional methods to guided lectures and inquiry-based learning in order to improve their students' performance in Islamic studies.
